How to Enjoy
When packing for a trip, you may notice differences in thinking between couples. Even though you are supposed to enjoy the same trip, the way of preparing for it is somehow completely opposite. I will introduce our household's 'couple's travel circumstances' revealed by a little incident before the
Differences Between Couples Before Traveling
In our case,
this difference is most evident in
packing for trips.
I am the type who wants to keep the luggage
as minimal as possible.
On the other hand, my husband is
the type who thinks a lot about "just in case."
Even though we are going on the same trip,
for some reason, there is a difference in the amount of luggage.
I think "this is necessary" and
pack only what is needed.
I want to travel as light as possible and
enjoy the trip.
However, my husband thinks,
"what if I need it later."
He starts to think, "it might be better to have that,"
and "let’s take this too," and
eventually, the luggage increases without noticing.
I sometimes wonder,
"Are you really taking all that?"
My husband is originally a worrywart.
It’s not just about traveling.
Even when he goes to work, he has a lot of bags,
taking along things that might come in handy.
For him,
having it gives a sense of security.
Conversely, I feel,
I can think about it if it becomes necessary.
I want to avoid carrying too much.
By reducing my luggage,
I feel light and secure.
My husband feels secure by increasing his luggage.
Whenever we prepare for a trip,
I think, "Are you really bringing that much?"
while my husband wonders,
"Aren't you bringing anything?"
But living as a couple, don’t you notice these kinds of differences?
You would do it without hesitation your way,
yet your partner does it in a completely different way.
Even if you think, "this is how it’s done,
normally," what’s normal for your partner is different.
That being said, when you think deeply about it,
it's not really a matter of who’s right.
Because our ways of thinking are different,
we each have parts that the other lacks.
Lately, I've been thinking,
"Let’s enjoy these differences too."
